Barnette (Mark Leahy) is a young lawyer hired to defend Babe on charges of attempted murder. He has very strong reasons - some of them personal - for taking on her case.

Relationships with other characters: Barnette holds a major grudge against Zachary Botrelle, whom he blames for ruining his father. The lawyer is prepared to use any and all information in his attempt to take down the most powerful man in Hazelhurst.

In addition, he seems to have some interest in Babe herself. The two met by chance at a fair some years before.
