When Axel was hired, Santa told the elf about the Grump sisters, and warned him that they loved to pick on the new buyers. But since they always appeared in costume, they were impossible to recognize. So when a pair of "Gnomes" came and offered to supply all of Santa's holes, Axel -- although a little frightened by their manners -- didn't suspect a thing.
