Axel the Elf: Santa's newest buyer. Perky, industrious and ambitious. Thrilled about his recent promotion. Quote: "My career's over! I've worked my entire life for this chance, and now I'll go down in history as the first Elf pink-slipped by Santa Claus!"

Jinx: Assistant holemaker working for Rowley. Young, hard-working and cheerful. Very good at making holes, not so good at counting. Quote: "I wonder what a Gnome who's made holes all his life can do?"

Mr. Pistachio: Commissioner of Stuff. Charming, urbane and very, very smooth. A real wheeler-dealer. Quote: "It might be time to hit the Grumps with a little schmooze..."

Rowley: Head holemaker at the Gnomes' factory. Stern, demanding and forthright. A bit of a perfectionist. Quote: "I would rather close down the factory than turn out shoddy work."

Santa Claus: Head of holiday gift-giving. Wise, jolly and impertubable. Loves making children happy. Quote: "They hang their stockings and light their menorahs with such gleeful anticipation...and every season, when I see their faces light up, I know that the future is secure, and all's right with the world..."

Snags: One of the Grump Sisters. Conniving, cunning and mean-spirited. Loves Halloween, hates all other holidays. Quote: "Well, we need a BIG idea...something that will make this holiday season soooo unpleasant that people will be anxious for it to end!"

Velma: One of the Grump Sisters. Nasty-tempered, obnoxious and petty. Loves Halloween, hates all other holidays. Quote: "If we don't figure out a way to stop the holes, this will be the longest holiday season ever!"
