The Frog Prince
The Story

[Princess Gwendolyn wants nothing to do with the Frog]It just so happened that the Frog had taken up residence in that very same well. When he realized that it was a princess in distress, he seized the opportunity to talk to her.

At first Gwendolyn wanted nothing to do with the amphibian. But then he explained that, being a Frog, he could easily go down the well and retrieve her prized plaything. In return, however, the Frog asked her for a seat at her dinner table, a spot beside her bed to sleep, and one kiss!

Any princess, much less one as spoiled at Gwendolyn, would have had trouble making that promise. But Gwendolyn desperately wanted her ball back, and finally agreed to the Frog's terms -- although without any intention of actually following through on her promise. As soon as the Frog resurfaced with the toy, she snatched it from his arms, briefly thanked him, and ran off, feeling sure that she would never ever have to see or talk to him again.
