The Frog Prince
The Story

Unlike me, a rank amateur, the Balladeer is a professional storyteller. She always starts her rendition of the Frog Prince's tale with this song, which (besides getting her audience's attention) introduces one of the story's major themes...

Excerpt from "Things Aren't Always As They Seem"

There's a man with a shiny new hat
And he always wears a very fancy tie,
But this man plays with matches,
He talks with his mouth full,
And he sometimes tells his mother a lie.
There's another man in tattered overalls,
With a patch or two on his behind
But this man writes poetry, loves little children,
And tries to be helpful and kind.

So, a man isn't good 'cause he's handsome,
Or bad if his face is not clean,
Oh, you can't judge a book by its cover,
Because things aren't always as they seem.
