The Frog Prince |
As the queendom's official storyteller, troubadour, and all-around source of information, the balladeer has the job of
reporting news to the Queen, and of announcing any
proclamations that come from Her Highness. I used to dislike her because I thought she talked too much and cared too much about everyone's business.
Plus, she's always cheerful, which tends to irritate people who are always
mean-tempered.
Quotes: "This proclamation was set forth as a result of a very strange and interesting story. A story which I PROMISE you will turn out fine."
"Sometimes Gwendolyn would sing a song to him, and the Frog would tell the Princess tales of aquatic significance..."
"The Princess is right, your Highness. There is much other news I could tell you that you might find more to your liking..."
Notes: The Balladeer was played by Liana Maria Reda (above, with the Queen).
The narrator is often a difficult role to play. For one thing, there are usually a lot of lines to remember; also, the narrator is in charge of moving the story along. To help her during the show, Liana used a "cheat sheet" backstage that listed her opening line for each scene.
