The Emperor's New Clothes
The Story

When he wasn't giving commands to his tailor or reading fashion magazines, Vincent would spend hours in front of the mirror, trying on suit after suit. Inevitably, he would be disappointed by what he saw...

Excerpt from "The Emperor's Lament":

Standing here
I ask myself a question that my looking glass
Already knows the answer to...

How regally regal am I?
I am royally sound
My feet on the ground
An example for all that I see
The folk in the street
Other rulers I meet
The mountains, the streams
The moon and its beams
The oak in the wood
Like the butterfly should
All try to emulate me!

Then why do I hide in my closet?
The answer is more than a guess
That what I look best in
Is not what I'm dressed in
My wardrobe is really a mess.
