But my loving father could not return to his faithful daughters without the presents he had promised, and so he picked a single rose in the garden.

It was then that he discovered the identity of the kind gentleman who had restored his health. The gentleman was none other than a horrible beast with a fierce roar and terrible white fangs.

The beast had intended to kill my father for his broken promise, but took pity on his pleas for mercy. In return for his life, he must surrender one of his daughters in his place.
