Beauty and the Beast
The Story

My kind, generous father loves all of us dearly, and always puts our wishes above his own. As soon as he learned the good news about his ship, he asked us what gifts we wanted him to bring back from town. Here's what my sister Lazinea answered:

Excerpt from "That Will Make Me Smile"

Father, bring a turkey feast with cranberries and yams
Twenty loaves of homemade bread, and ten assorted jams
Bring a giant featherbed that's deeper than a mile --

Forty pillows I can use,
Every one with down of goose,
A trunk of sugar candy chews,
Yellows, reds and greens and blues,
Fudgy nuts and caramel ooze,
A pair of chocolate tennis shoes,
Lots of slushy flavored brews
Several kinds for me to choose,
Now I think I'll take a snooze...
And that will make me smile!
[Lazinea's turkey]
