Ali Baba &
the Forty Thieves
Show Characters

I am what you'd call a self-made man. I got rich by selling rocks to travellers, specially designed to help them ford rivers. They'd take the rocks, dump them into the river, climb across, and then pull the rocks after them. It was a very good business - at least, until someone invented the bridge.

Quotes: "Can I interest you in a stick? The very finest for your gold here in Persia. Just take a look at our latest model, the Royal Commander XL-o-lux-sleek lines, glossy coat- just look at that fine local craftsmanship -- made right here in Persia!"

"Gold! Ali Baba has gold! How could he have gold. . . and not tell his only brother?"

"Let's see...if I rope the huge emerald Buddha to my back, I can still carry King Tut in my arms...Wow! The paintings from the Gardner museum!"

Notes: The versatile Mark Leahy (above) took on the role of the wily, conniving Kasim.

At one point in the show, Calvin casts a spell on Kasim to shrink him to the size of a twelve-inch foot. To do this, we took a doll and gave it a costume exactly like Kasim's. If you look closely at this picture, you'll see the enchanted Kasim dangling from Chester's hand.
